Domain history: from the Lebanese Dietetic Association to the LAND academy

Before it became a supplement guide, lebanondiet.org hosted for more than twenty years the website of the professional body of dietitians in Lebanon. This page preserves that history and explains what the site is today.

The current site is fully independent, is not connected to the Lebanese Association for Nutrition and Food Sciences or the Lebanese Academy for Nutrition and Dietetics (LAND), and does not speak for either. Their names appear here only as the history of the domain.

First period: the Lebanese Association for Nutrition and Food Sciences (2001–2014)

The domain first appears in the public web archive in autumn 2001 as the site of the Lebanese Association for Nutrition and Food Sciences — the body that brought together nutrition and dietetics professionals in Lebanon, affiliated with the International Union of Nutritional Sciences. The newspaper L’Orient-Le Jour pointed to the site in February 2004 as the place for further information about the association.

In that period the site was a members’ directory, an archive of short scientific articles, and a notice board for conferences and workshops — from the nutrition congress in Beirut to participation in international congresses.

Second period: the Lebanese Academy for Nutrition and Dietetics, LAND (2015–2022)

In the mid-2010s the site was relaunched as the Lebanese Academy for Nutrition and Dietetics. The Academy described itself as the core guiding body for nutrition, food science and nutrition-related public health in Lebanon, founded in 1970 and revived in 1993, and the first organisation of nutrition professionals in the region. It had around two hundred licensed dietitian members and elected an executive committee every three years.

Its published mission: optimising the health of Lebanon and the Middle East through nutrition and lifestyle, and empowering members to be the trusted providers of nutrition advice. The site sections at the time: About, Committee, Press releases, Dietitians directory, FAQ, Health tips, Publications, Job vacancies and Library, plus News and Events — among them a sports-nutrition workshop and a conference on research trends in food and nutrition.

What the dietitians directory contained

The Dieticians page was the most visited: an alphabetical directory of hundreds of licensed practitioners with their place of work. That directory is personal data of the Academy’s members and is not republished here. In its place we wrote a practical page on how to choose a dietitian in Lebanon today and what to ask at the first session.

The gap and the current site

After 2022 the site went offline; the domain was later re-registered and used for a while for content unrelated to nutrition. Since September 2026 the domain carries the current site: an independent Arabic and English guide to the food supplements and care products that can be ordered in Lebanon, written from an everyday-nutrition angle.

The old site’s addresses (such as About-Us/Dieticians.aspx and Resources/Health-Tips.aspx) redirect to the corresponding pages here so that old links do not break.

Where to find the Academy today

If you are looking for the professional body of dietitians in Lebanon, look for the order or professional association through its current official channels; this site does not represent it and holds no member data.
